Security Tips To Prevent Burglaries

Being the victim of a burglary can be an unsettling experience to say the least. Along with the feeling of intrusion of your private residence or business there are the added stresses of potential loss of property and costs to rectify and repair any damage. So in the spirit of “prevention is better than cure” I’ve put together some Security Tips To Prevent Burglaries.

  • Bins and ladders should be stored away from your home to prevent them from being used.
  • Never leave any valuables where they can be seen by an intruder.
  • Don’t share any holiday plans on social media.
  • Keep out any unwanted guests. Install a spy hole or video doorbell.
  • Leave a light on when you are not at home or purchase a light with a timer.
  • Join your local Neighbourhood Watch scheme.
  • Get an alarm for your property.
  • Store all house and car keys away from your front door.
  • Fit lights with sensors on the front of your property and in the garden.
  • Mark all of your valuables with a UV pen.  Take pictures of your valuables.
  • Check all of your locks including garages, gates or sheds.  Upgrade/replace faulty/sub-standard locks. Install window locks if not present.
